Letter to Reception Parents starting full time in September 2020

Dear Parent/ Carer,

We hope that your child has enjoyed their first week of part time in Reception as much as we have. Starting school is such an exciting time for the children, but it can also be a busy time with new routines and things to remember.

We have put together a list of reminders that we hope will help!

  • Your child can bring to school a healthy snack for the morning playtime. This can include fruit, vegetables, a plain biscuit, cereal bar, yoghurt drink or cheese.

Please write your child’s name on their snack.

  • They can also bring a labelled water bottle with plain water.
  • Please send your child to school with their book bag every day. No large bags or large rucksacks are needed.
  • As the weather is a little temperamental at the minute, we would encourage you to send your child to school with a coat, every day.
  • Please can you check and ensure all of your child’s uniform is clearly labelled, particularly cardigans, jumpers and coats.
  • Tuesday will be our PE day, so your child will come to school in their PE kit. This should be a plain black, grey or navy tracksuit and plain white t shirt. Trainers should be worn but if your child is unable to tie shoe laces, they must have Velcro or slip on trainers.
  • Please can you order your child’s school lunch at home as you know what they like to eat.
  • No earrings, jewellery, watches or nail varnish are allowed to be worn in school.
  • Children are not allowed to ride scooters or bikes on the school premises.
  • Please ensure you have set up your Seesaw account/password, as we will soon be sending information, work and photographs home.
  • As of Monday, the drop off time for both Reception classes will be 9.00-9.10am. The drop-off point will also change.  Parents will no longer need to walk around the building to the external classroom door. Instead, parents should drop off their child at the Infant gate. When you arrive at the gate, the children will be welcomed by the staff members at the gate who will then guide them into the building. After saying ‘goodbye’ at the gate, we ask that parents then leave the premises straight away.
  • Parents with siblings can bring both children at the time given for the eldest child.
  • Collection time is 3.10pm.Only one adult should attend site to drop off or collect and should socially distance from others. Adults should leave the premises immediately after dropping off/ collecting and should not gather on the school pathways.
  • Collection Point for Bubble R (Reception): Parents should enter the school building via the Junior gate (on the right hand side as you go up the main path) and then walk all the way around to the Infant playground.  They should then line up on the ramp (on the right hand side of the ramp as you are facing it) and queue around the Infant playground. There are blue spots marked on the floor 2m apart.  Please queue on the spots.  The children will be released one at a time and parents are then asked to leave the premises immediately. Parents should walk back around the building and leave via the Junior gate.  Staff will be on hand to support parents with where to go.

Thank you for your cooperation.

Yours sincerely,

Mrs Falconer                           Mrs Bartolini-Bradley
