Important letter to all parents 3rd January 2021
Dear Parents / Carers,
I am writing to update you about plans for the re-opening of Lowton West Primary School next week (week commencing Tuesday 5th January 2021).
This weekend, the Headteacher, Deputy Head and governors have carried out a review of the school’s Covid-19 risk assessment.
Following the review of the school’s risk assessment, the school will not be in a position to open for ALL pupils on Tuesday 5th January. This will be the situation for the first two weeks of the new term, after which the situation will be reviewed. Therefore, we will be closing the school to all pupils as from Tuesday 5th January, with the exception of:
- the pupils whom school class as ‘vulnerable’ pupils;
- pupils whose parents are key workers.
However, despite allowing some pupils to return to school, we still need to undertake a further risk assessment to ensure that everyone is safe in school. As you will be aware from the media, there are serious concerns in relation to the new Covid-19 variant and the current spread of the virus. Therefore, if the demand for places is very high again (as it was back in March 2020), we may not be in a position to accommodate all pupils of key workers.
Urgent action needed:
To assist us with reviewing the school’s risk assessment further at this current time, I would be grateful if parents would complete the survey on School Spider as soon as possible if you wish your child to attend school during the first two weeks of term. The survey should be completed immediately if possible and no later than 12pm on Monday 4th January.
If you are a key worker, please e-mail evidence of your job role and explain how it fits with the government criteria. Please clearly state which pupil(s) you are the parent of (state each child’s full name and their class). All e-mails should be sent to the school e-mail address:
Remote home learning
The school will provide home learning for all pupils who will not be attending school. Please ensure that you have your ‘Seesaw’ passwords, etc to hand to access the work. More information will follow in relation to this.
I apologise for this very late notice to parents.
As always, our priority is to keep the Lowton West school community as safe as possible during these unprecedented times. I will continue to keep parents updated in relation to this situation.
Thank you for your anticipated support and understanding of the school’s position during this extremely challenging time for everybody.
