Welcome to our Year 1 Topic Work
Pets at Home
On Thursday afternoon, Classes 3 & 4 had a visit from Pets at Home.
The children were very excited to see the rabbit and guinea pigs.
They had an opportunity to learn about lots of different animals, how to look after them and keep them healthy.
The children had a fantastic afternoon.
Thank you to Mrs Meighen for organising this activity.
Year 1 Trip
On Tuesday, the children of Year 1 went on their school trip to ‘Underwater Street - Imagine That!’ in Liverpool.
We were greeted by Underwater Street staff who informed the children about the day ahead and which activities they could take part in - which was met with much excitement!
The morning was taken up with enjoying hands on activities based around science - such as magnetic games, circuit boards, the shadow room and the water pump station.
The children then watched a number of experiments with 'Professor Patrick' and his staff - including making an active volcano, rockets and even slime! After lunch, the children were able to enjoy some arts and crafts including fridge magnet making, making pirate hats and even having a go at painting a real car.
Fossil hunting and a mini village complete with supermarket, hair salon, pizza parlour and even connecting telephones kept the children (and staff!) amused before we headed back to the coach and the short journey home.
The children thoroughly enjoyed themselves and their behaviour and manners were wonderful. A good time was certainly had by all!
