Lowton West Primary School

PE and Sport Premium Funding - 2016 - 17

Physical Education and competitive sport play a very important part in life at Lowton West Primary School. Participation in sports not only encourages our pupils to develop their fitness and promote a healthy lifestyle but also develop and learn more about key values such as respect, resilience, tolerance, ambition and pride.

The Government has given every primary school funding to develop Physical Education and competitive sport. This year Lowton West has received £9,805.00.

In our school we are using this funding, by working in partnership with Premier Sport, the LA and with our LOGOS cluster of schools to:

- continue to increase the number of pupils taking part in school sporting competitions and inter-house/ intra-schools competitions.

- continue to improve staff knowledge and expertise, with more staff becoming involved in sporting competitions, to allow for sustainable impact over time.

- introduce new sporting events for the children to participate in.

- introduce a wider range of extra-curricular activities for children to get involved in.

- continue to increase sporting activities to develop children’s fitness and to promote a healthy lifestyle through sport.

- introduce the Play leader award for Year 5 and 6 pupils to increase the number of pupils actively involved in sports and games at lunchtimes
