Re Ofsted Ispection
Following on from our recent Ofsted Inspection, we are now in receipt of the formal report and able to release this to you. I am absolutely delighted to do so.
Some parents will be aware that the new Ofsted Framework was introduced from January 2013, and Ofsted have commented that this is the most challenging framework to date. As a result, they expected fewer schools to achieve the top grades. The bar has certainly been raised in a very marked manner!
Therefore, we are proud and delighted to advise that
Lowton West Primary School has been judged as a“good”school.
•Pupils make particularly good progress in reading and writing
•Achievement is good
•Pupils feel safe in the school and they behave consistently well in lessons and around the school.
•Teaching is predominantly good and occasionally outstanding.
•The leadership has an accurate grasp of the school’s strengths and weaknesses.
•The governing body is very knowledgeable and well informed because it has good systems to monitor the performance of the school.
All four categories inspected; the achievement of pupils, the quality of teaching, the behaviour and safety of pupils and the leadership and management of the school have been judged as “good” by the inspectors. Strategies have already been put in place to address the areas for improvement as identified by the inspectors.
I know that children, staff and parents will be rightly proud of this report and of our school. What we have done, and what we continue to do together in the future, has been, and always will be a team effort.
The Governors would like to express their thanks to Mrs Westhead and all the staff whose hard work and dedication has again been rewarded with this excellent inspection report. A special thank you to the parents and carers of the children, whose continued support of the school is highly valued and appreciated by all. Mrs Westhead has thanked the children themselves who are a credit to the school.
