Lowton West Primary School

How Can I Help?

The Friends of Lowton West are asking that on the last day of term, Friday 21st July; your child brings in a second pair of shoes or pumps.  At home time, the children will take off their unwanted school shoes and place them on their desk.  They can wear their pumps or second pair of shoes to go home in.

The FOLW team will then collect these school shoes and any other unwanted shoes or pumps you may have and take them to a local Clarks store, who in turn send them onto UNICEF to help fund their Show Share campaign.

Please help and donate your unwanted shoes on 21st July!

Summer Fair Success

The sun shone, temperatures soared and the crowds descended onto Lowton West last Saturday for the Friends of Lowton West’s 2017 Summer Fair.  Cartoon themed, Sponge Bob, Bob Minion, Minnie the Minx and even Wonder Woman were all there to greet the visitors as they came through the gates.  With more stalls and attractions than ever before, the crowds enjoyed inflatables and donkey rides with Alice and the Queen of Hearts on the field, Beat the Goalie, Premier Sports games, pamper stalls, face painting, cakes and crafts galore, pocket money goodies and well-being stalls, to name but a few.  Where’s Wally, Super Mario, Popeye and Snow White kept everyone fed and watered with tuck shop treats, soft drinks from the tombola and delicious burgers and hot dogs too!  And to top it all off, Tom Gradwell, ably assisted by Daphne from Scooby-Doo; took some beautiful family photos in the fabulous sunshine!

On the day we raised an amazing £2,900 which will go towards buying equipment and games for school, funding school trips and activities such as Science Week and Arts Week too.

Thank you to all parents and carers who came along, to all our sponsor, Speedy Courier Services; stall holders who supported us on the day and to the Friends of Lowton West Association who have been planning the day since January!

*** Raffle tickets are still available to buy.  Win a 2018 Eurocamp Holiday for just £1!!  Plus other prizes to be won too ***

Friends of Lowton West - Family Quiz Night Fun!

Friday 18th May saw the Friends of Lowton West Family Quiz Night.  And what a night it was!  As many as 14 separate teams turned up to play the quiz, with rounds including the Anagram round, Music Intros, Sports and General Knowledge.  The break for a hot supper of Corned Beef Hash or Hot Dogs was also broken up with games including Guess the Weight of the Cake and the ever popular Lucky Stick game! Young players could also enjoy colouring in with pens and paper provided on the tables too.  And the bar and tuck shop were also a sell out, providing refreshments throughout the evening.

The raffle was as popular as ever with a hamper including goodies from the local Co-op available as first prize.  The winning team were the Gally Geeks, with The Fikkos coming second and Quizteamano Ronaldo taking third place.  A fantastic night was had by all and over £300 was raised for the school, which will help contribute towards class trips and events such as Arts Week.

Special thanks go to the school’s Canteen and Office Staff, Lowton Cake Company, the Co-op and to all the parents and carers who came along on the night to support the school.

Thanks again and we hope that you have all dried out. The Friends Association.
